Explorer Scouts

Discover the World

Being an Explorer is all about discovering the world on your own terms and making the most of what you have, wherever and whoever you are.

Alongside your new friends, you’ll master the skills that will make you feel stronger and happier in the long run, and try things you’d never get the chance to do at home or at school.

Whether you’re hiking to faraway lands or building a robot in our own hall, you’ll have the freedom to choose what you’d like to do, and work together with adults to make it happen.

Badges

Explorer Scouts have their own set of badges and awards designed to recognize their achievements, personal development, and engagement in various activities:

  • Duke of Edinburgh's Award: Many Explorer Scouts participate in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award program, which focuses on personal development, physical fitness, skill acquisition, and community service
  • Top Awards: Explorer Scouts can work towards prestigious top awards, such as the Platinum and Diamond Awards, which require a high level of dedication and commitment to the Scouting program
  • Young Leader Belt: Explorer Scouts who take on leadership roles within their own or other sections of Scouting can earn the Young Leader Belt, recognizing their contribution to the movement
  • Activity and Challenge Badges: Explorer Scouts have the opportunity to earn a wide range of badges related to activities and challenges they undertake, such as adventure, creative arts, global, and more
  • Staged Badges: Similar to other sections, Explorer Scouts can earn staged badges like the Leadership, Musician, and Nautical Skills badges, which allow them to build skills progressively
  • Scout Network Awards: As Explorer Scouts transition into the Scout Network, they can earn awards that recognize their continued involvement in Scouting and their engagement with the wider community

These badges and awards encourage Explorer Scouts to pursue personal growth, leadership, and life skills while participating in adventurous and meaningful activities. They provide a structured framework for learning and skill development within the Scouting program.
